A 19th century gold work embroidery. Turkish in origin. Stump work peacock with a bit of green silk thread woven into the eye . Bullion threading used throughout and secured to a dusty pink colored silk background. The back is a muslin cotton or linen. All hand done. Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
The peacocks are symbolic of re-growth and rejuvenation, royalty, respect, honor, and integrity. They are also a symbol of beauty, love, and passion. In Hinduism and Buddhism, these birds are considered to be sacred and worshipped alongside their deities.

Overall food condition. The only thing to note is that you will see one or two missing purl thread ( barely visible) . The silk around the applique is fragile and started to fray . Nothing major. The silk around the applique can be cut out. A great study piece or reuse on garments, pillows , framing etc.
