A 19th century metallic twist rope fringe. French in origin. Gold at one time but has not taken on a dark bronze color. It almost has an antique silver like appearance as well and could go either way depending on the farbrics you would use with it. Overall though this piece has a more golden tone to it than the other pieces I have listed that are similiar. Metal threads are wrapped around a linen base. This is a heavier fringe and was probably used on curtains or upholsery pieces at one time. Nice quality. Photos are a good representation of actual color.
Measurements
79 cm in length x 20.5 cm wide
The strands are thick and measure 3 mm wide.
Condition
Used with signs of age. Some broken cross threads in the braid along the top. Some slight bending to the strands and slight wear. There is one seam in the braid. There is also one strand that is slightly shorter than the rest and knotted at the bottom. Basically what you would expect on a trim of this age.
