Rich colors and gorgeous embroidery work in this late 17th early 18th century embroidered panel. Italian in origin.  All done in metallic and silk thread on a silk red back. Depicts a few ornate stylized blossoms and mostly scrolled leaf motifs. Bordered at the sides with a metallic trim dating from the same period and a piece of gold metallic rope fringe at the ends. The sides are velvet but most of the pile is missing.  Photos are a good indication of color and condition.

Measurements

1 meter 34 cm in length (not including the fringes)

The width is 26 cm

Width of the embroidery only is 17.5 cm

Condition

For age good condition. You will see a couple of old repairs and missing silk thread. Surprising the embroidery work is done on on a top layer of silk and on the areas that have broken you can see another layer of red silk cloth. You do see some breaks and some wear but basically in stable condition and still very decorative.
