Rare find! Completely intact and original this 18th century French quilt. Siamoise front with a block print of stylzied blossoms, leaves and buds done in light blue and white against a madder red background.
The back in covered in a chavre linen.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
2 meters 1 cm x 1 meter 75 cm
The front is actually two panels of the same fabric hand stitched down the middle in what looks like equal widths Quilt possibly both panels selvage to selvage since the width of each panel is 86.5 cm wide and that was pretty standard at the time.
Condition
Very good condition. I noticed one hole in the block print fabric which is shown in one of the photos and there are small holes and wear at the edges which could be expected. No stains. Colors are strong good and even.
Backside: no apparant holes that I came across but does show some yellowing here and there throughout.
