An 18th century French indigo blue & white resist dye cotton fabric. Organic looking motifs of stylized blossoms and leaves. Photos are a good representation of actual color.

Design and manufacturing credited to Adam Vidal (early 1700's). The city of Rouen became famous for these fabrics as well as Marseille & Nimes.

Measurements

1 meter 50 cm top to bottom

46 cm wide (still has part of the selvage along one side)

Condition

The fabric was lightly quilted at one time so you will see some quilt lines.

A very large section missing towards one end, several holes and some thinning areas. Some good smaller sections with no damage. Best suited for smaller projects or documentation.

The fabric has been lightly laundered using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents to remove built up dust and dirt. We try to delivery a clean and pressed product when possible but take care to preserve the color and integretity of the fabric
