An 18th century silk & metallic embroidery fragment. Probably Italian in origin. Depicting some stunning stylized leaves and blossoms. Very fine satin stitch work in silk threads. Gold work embroidery are couched and woven. All done on a gold silk back. At each side a gold damask silk and edged in gold metallic lace. At the back some batting along the entire length of the piece which can be easily removed if desired.

 Condition
 
For it's age in good condition. The embroideries are intact and in good condition for the most part with only a few spots of a bit of missing thread. The gold silk back is fragile. Gold silk damask at the sides in good condition. Metallic lace trim at the edges shows signs of age and wear but mostly what you would expect on an item of this age.
