Always looking for quality material that can be upscaled for new projects.
An early 1900's French matras cover. Linen. Open slit in the back with linen ties to shut. Cover shows many patches and darns. Linen has a floppy smooth feel to it. Cross stitch monogram at one end on the side. Perfect for authentic looking projects and lots of material to work and upscale. Seams are machine sewn and darns, repairs and ties are hand stitched.
Photos are a good representation of actual color.
Measurements
approx.
1 meter 97 cm in length x 76 cm wide
Band that goes around all sides is 27 cm
Condition
You will see many darns and repairs. A patch or two. Some interesting stains. Tiny holes here and there.
I gave the cover a very long 2 hour wash to remove dust and dirt and to freshen the fabric using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents. Stains could undoubtedly be removed if desired but leaving this up to the discretion of the customer. Most of the fabric is without stains. Ironed the cover to remove large wrinkles but the covers will arrive at your home with some light wrinkles. They are not an easy object to iron. I assume for the most part the cover will be cut up and reinvented.
