An antique dutch chintz bonnet. Dates from the early 1800's. This bonnet has been made out of several pieces of chintz fabric that have been sewn together. Beautiful bird and florals against a madder red ground. A silk and cotton trim lines the sides. All hand stitched. The original liner has been replaced with a more modern version.
The child's bonnets were made and used in the small fishing village of Marken, Holland. The antique chintz's were hand down from generation to generation.
Photos are a good representation of actual color.
