An antique dutch chintz bonnet. Dates from the early 1700's. This bonnet has been made out of several pieces of chintz fabric that have been sewn together. Beautiful florals against a light purple ground. A silk and cotton trim lines the sides. All hand stitched. Two sides of the original liner have been replaced.
The child's bonnets were made and used in the small fishing village of Marken, Holland. The antique chintz's were hand down from generation to generation.
Photos are a good representation of actual color.
