A antique dutch chintz bonnet. Dates from the mid 1800's. This bonnet has been made out of several pieces of chintz fabric that have been sewn together. Still shows some glaze. Beautiful blue,red, purple and white colors against a dark ground. A silk and cotton trim lines the sides. All hand stitched.  The original liner has been replaced with a more modern version.
 
The child's bonnets were made and used in the small fishing village of Marken, Holland. The antique chintz's were hand down from generation to generation.
