A 19th century French toile du jouy. Depicting classical motifs of urns with various florals, scrolled leaves and cherubs, birds. Medium weight cotton. Perfectly suitable for soft furnishings or light upholstery work. Toile is back with a red cotton which has been hand stitched along three sides and I believe machine stitched at a later date along one side. Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Condition
 
For the most part in very good condition. There is one small hole at the upper left hand corner. The cotton backing has come loose so would either need to be restitched or replaced. There are a couple of very  light age spots but tiny and not distractinng. A bit of yellowing along the edges. I have not cleaned the toile and will leave that up to the discretion of the buyer. The red cotton backing compliments the toile well and could easily be used to back the toile should you decide to make pillows from the fabric.
