Antique religious applique depicting three scenes to the left the great flood, center Maria and Jesus and to the right a building with a latin inscription that translates as "from the pestilence of famine and free us from the seas." Dates from the late 1700's. French in origin. Hand painted and hand embroidered with a metallic and silk thread. Gothic arch style frame around the sides is hand embroidered with a gold metallic thread has now taken on a dark patina. Photos are a good representation of actual colors.

Condition
Used but still in good condition for it's age. The only thing to note is that on the center motifs from top to bottom you will see some wear to the silk and a couple of breakes with missing silk due to age and a few small age spots at the bottom of the applique. At the side motifs you will see some slight wear to the silk fabric that has exposed the silk fabric. Nothing major. Still has a good appearance.
