A large piece of 19th century French chanvre linen. Natural light oatmeal color. Has a nice soft feel to it and a nice floppy flow.

Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Measurements

2 meters 31 cm from top to bottom

The width is

45 cm wide (still has the selvage at one side)

Condition

Somewhat distressed with heavier signs of distress at the edges with small holes and thin areas. One hand stitched patch. Some thin areas and small holes in the main body of the linen. Some slight variations in color due to age. A couple of small light stains that would probably come up with a deeper cleaning. This linen has several good size areas without damage so would work well for small pillows or sachets.

The fabric has been given a cold water wash using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents in order to remove dust and dirt. We like to deliver a clean and pressed product when possible but take care to preserve the integretity and color of the fabric.
