A very large of antique French blue and white Vichy plaid. Linen and cotton but I believe predominantly cotton. This is one of those pieces that I had to have a debate with myself on what to do with it exactly. Leave it in "as found" condition or take it apart. It is actually several large and small pieces sewn together with some wonderful seam work and several patches. There are many, many, many small darns throughout done in a white floss thread. All patches and seams have been done by hand and there are French seams as well as running stitches which can be seen in the photos. As you have probably guessed by now I have decided to leave the Vichy in as found condition because it will give the customer more opitions and possibilites for using the fabric for large and small projects. With the exception of two small patches done in white the rest of the patches have been done using the same blue and white Vichy fabric. Photos are a good represenation of actual color.
Measurements
2 meters 44 x 2 meters 44 cm
Based on the measurements probably used as a bed cover at one time.
Condition
There are some larger holes and several smaller holes and thinning areas throughout. There are also good sized areas without damage. Some heavier distress areas around the edges. A couple of small stains but nothing major and can easily be worked around.
The fabric has been giving a soak using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents to remove dust and dirt. We like to delivery a clean and pressed product when possible but take care to preserve the original color and integretity of the fabric.
