A heavily distressed 19th century French silk and metallic brocade fabric. The background has a woven design of small florals and leaves. Gold metallic motifs depict groups of small florals and leaves.
Probably used for a chasuble at one time. There is a small piece of green silk damask still at one edge which is obviously a religious textile with it's fleur de lys motif.
I've used some of this fabric in the past for ribbonwork corsages as a base.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
approx.
1 meter 29 cm from top to bottom x 88 cm wide
There is a seam in the fabric right down the middle running from top to bottom. You can see orignal selvage where the fabrics have been seamed.
