A large cotton panel of French Oberkampf. Cotton. Block print. Probably dates from the early 1800's Repeating medallion design of a stylized blossom center with leaves around the sides. Tone on tone look with medalions in a light creme color against a light tan background. Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
2 meters 57 cm from top to bottom
68.5 cm wide (still has selvage along both sides)
Condition
Quilted at one time so you will see quilt lines and small thread holes from the quilting.
The panel has been patched in one area towards the middle of the fabric which can be seen from the photos. Small holes and wear along top edge and down selvage sides. A large hole towards the top. Few more smaller holes here and there throughout the fabric. Large area towards the top with some staining and at the bottom.
There are good size useable areas without damage.
The fabric has been used lightly laundered to remove surface dust and to freshem but still shows some small light age spots which may come up with a deeper cleaning.
Probably best suited for smaller projects. Very light cotton and strong but if your sewing would still suggest using a stabilizer at the back.
