For those creative and artistic individuals a heavily distressed 18th century French cotton roll print fabric.
Sometimes I can't get my head around some of these designs that were made in the 1700's for their variation and intricatcy. This example is no exception. Alternating bands of long fern like leaves with bands of a moire backgroudnn and repeating rose design. Ombre look with shades of brown to creme.
Measurements
95 cm from top to bottom
The width is
38.5 cm
Condition
As you can see from the photos there are some large splits and missing pieces. Lightly quilted at one time. Many small sections in good condition without damage.
Good for scraping, patching, textile art or reproduction purposes. Wouldn't it look amazing in shades of green or blue?
So old that it felt like paper when I found it. I gave it a good long soak in those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents which removed all the dust and dirt added much need moisture to the threads. Fabric is now has a good and strong feel to it so it can be reworked.
We take care to preserve the integretity and color of the fabric.
