A large 19th century Toile Du Jouy " La Marchande d'amour and Don Quixote". French in origin. Dates from circa 1870. Various scenes depicting figures and animals on a white cotton ground. Original selvedges at both sides.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
2 meters 31 cm in lenght x 82 cm widefrom selvedge to selvedge.
Condition
Probably used but still in good condition. The only thing to note is down from the top and to the left small thin area , center tiny hole.
Larger stain to the right of the center and a couple of small sgtains underneath that. Some other small stains light in color down the right hand side of the fabric and a light stain at the left hand side of the fabric.
The fabric has been lightly laundered in order to remove dust and dirt but wanted to take care to preserve the color and integrity of the fabric .
A deeper cleaning will probably lift or at least ligthen the stains.
Fortunately nothing that affects the majority of the motifs in the fabric.
