A framed 18th century French tapestry fragment depict a lady holding a hoe and the left side with fruits and leaves and the right side. Done in wool and silk threads.
Gold painted from that dates from the late 1800's early 1900's. It has aged well with antique gold tones here and there throughout for an even appearance.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
46.3 cm from top to bottom x 49.9 cm wide
Condition
The tapestry fragment has been left in as found condition. It shows signs of wear and some missign thread. At some point it has been attached to a linen back and loose threads have been hand stitched down to the linen to stabilize. Colors are good and even for the most part but have aged. A bit difficult to photograph through the glass.
Frame is in overall good condition except for a few small places of missing paint. Nothing I find distracting and only adds to it's charm.
The frame didn't have glass in it or a backing so we took it to our local frame shop in Avignon. The glass is new as well as the cardboad and acid free paper added to the back with metal pins to keep it in place.
