Part of a set of 19th century silver work embroideries that we we recently acquired and all the pieces are listed on our website.
This listing an early 19th century table cover silver work embroidery on a fine hand woven muslim linen. Suspect East European in origin. Entire center silver work embroidery magnificantly done with alternating bands of zig zag open motifs and tightly woven bands. All edges of the linen have been hand rolled and hand stitched. Crocheted silver metallic thread edging along all sides. High metal content in the silver metal threads with a good weight to it.
A written discription of the collection (in French) was enclosed with the collection stating that the collection is from ancestores. We will enclose a photocopy of the discription with this set.

93.5 x 93.5 cm
Condition
Very good condition with no damage or holes. There are some age spots here and there in the muslin border and one darker stain at one corner and at one side. Small area of tarnish towards the center which is more visible at the back than the front.
Left in "as found" condition and not laundered.
