A 19th century French resist dye fabric. Cotton. Repeating columns of ivy shaped leaves and small florals in white against a blue background. Photos are a good represenation of actual color.
Measurements
51.5 cm from top to bottom
The width is
58.5 cm
Condition
Has a larger hole towards the top edge and smaller holes along top edge and down left hand side. Other small holes and thin spots in the fabric. Basically the bottom left hand corner (approx. 1/3 of the fabric) is in good conditon.
Quilted at one time so you will see quilt lines and slight variations in the color due to quilting and age.
The fabric has been laundered using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents but still shows some light soiling in the white leaves. I was careful with the cleaning process because I didn't want to loose the blue colored background. Leaving deeper and further cleaning up to the discretion of the customer.
So probably best suited for smaller projects or reproduction purposes.
