An 18th century French silk brocade fabric. Saved from an old chasuble. Groups of florals, leaves and stems attached to a very light ribbon and floral motif in the background. All done on an iridescent lavnder background.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
36.5 cm from top to bottom
The width is
20.5 cm wide
*actually two pieces of the same fabric seamed together with the seam running top to bottom down the middle.
Condition
The silks from this period are always good and strong and can be sewn. I gave them a good yank to test the strength. Small split/hole at left side. Sewing lines around the sides. Small rip at bottom left hand corner. Slight dissapearance of some silk threads due to age but nothing distracting.
