You will probably recognize these now widely sought after motifs in this large late 1700's early 1800's French block print. Cotton. Indienne influence with pineapples, exotic florals and leaves. Typical colors of the period in red, pink light blues, dark lavender all against a white background.
Full repeats.
Photos are a good represenation of actual color.
Measurements
2 meters 79 cm from top to bottom
The width is 1 meter (still has the selvage at both sides)
Condition
Heavily distressed with large and small holes and some missing areas. Thin areas throughout. The fabric was quilted so you will see trace of quilt lines. Some slight variation in background color due to quilting and age but nothing I find distracting and what you would expect for an item of this age.
There are some good very small sections in good condition that would work for patching but overall keep in mind that the fabric is delicate and would mostly need to be stabilized.
Would look nice framed. In addition, I've seen several pieces of this sort of fabric with these motifs used for applique work which would be stunning.
The fabric has been very carefully laundered using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents. We like to delivery a clean and pressed product when possbile but take care to preserve the color and integretity of the fabric.
Colors are still good and strong and consistant overall.
