Late 1700's/early 1800's French toile du jouy quilt fragment. Linen. Shades of dark pink reddish tones. Depicting some swags of blossoms, scrolled leaves. Larger motifs of figures, ruins and animals. Actually 2 pieces of the same fabric hand seamed together with seams running from top to bottom.
A very thin batting has been used as the filler and the fragment is backed with chanvre linen in white.

Condition
Left in "as found" condition.
There is a patch at the bottom left hand corner. Two small hole under the group of figures center towards the bottom. For the rest the fabric is in good condition with no stains or apparant damage.
The chanvre linen at the back is two pieces hand seamed together. Shows a couple of light stains, a couple of small holes and one corner is missing.
Overall clean appearance with no obvious stains but has not been laundered and leaving that up to the discretion of the customer.
