A black with gold Napolean III framed toile du jouy. The linen toile dates from the 18th century and the design come from the "discovery of America" series. Harbor scene with boats to the left and center and a bit of castle to the far right. Red with a light natural beige background.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Condition
The toile has been left in it's "as found" condition and overall good condition with only a few thin spots. We decided to leave the toile in uncleaned condition because the aged areas best suited the frame.
Frame is good condition but shows signs of wear and some small chips and missing paint. Mostly along the top edge. Nothing I find distracting and only adds to it's charm.
The frame didn't have glass in it or a backing so we took it to our local frame shop in Avignon. The glass is new as well as the cardboad and acid free paper added to the back with metal pins to keep it in place.
