An 19th century French indigo blue on blue indigo resist dye cotton fabric. Roll/block print. Organic  motifs of potted flowers with leave that alternate with bands of small blossoms and leafy branches. I've seen this pattern several times but never this variation in blue on blue.

Photos are a good representation of actual color.

Design and manufacturing credited to Adam Vidal (early 1700's). The city of Rouen became famous for these fabrics as well as Marseille & Nimes.

Measurements

1 meter 34 cm top to bottom

The width is 1 meter (still has selvage at each side)

Condition

The fabric was lightly quilted at one time so you will see some quilt lines but nothing major.

The majority of the fabric is in good useable condition with only a few small holes. Towards the bottom left hand side there is a large hole and a smaller hole at the bottom. Color are good and strong and even.

The fabric has been given a cold water wash  using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents to remove built up dust and dirt. We try to delivery a clean and pressed product when possible but take care to preserve the color and integretity of the fabric.
