Part of a large collection we recently acquired. This large lot of silk & metallic and metallic brocade sample pieces. Some extraordinary designs and workmanship that you rarely come across anymore. Date from the early 1800's. Perfect study pieces or for reproduction. Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Taken from Wikipedia:
Nicolas Yemeniz was a manufacturer of silk fabrics for furniture and a bibliophile naturalized French in 1817, born in September 1781 (according to his naturalization certificate) or April 15, 1783 (according to his marriage certificate) in the island of Chalkis-les-Constantinople (now Heybeliada, Turkey) and died on April 30, 1871 in Lyon. He came from an ancient aristocratic Phanariote family.
Measurements
Range is size from the small blue and gold piece
8.5 x 5.5 cm to
the largest blue and gold piece
26.5 x 17.5
Condition
All of the samples are in good condition. The only thing to note is that the two darker blue pieces have a bit of color fade and on the metallic brocades you will see some light development of darker shades of patina. Nothing I find distracting and what you would expect on items of this age.
