A black with gold Napolean III framed toile du jouy. The linen toile dates from the 18th century and the design come from the "discovery of America" series. River scene with a small boat in the background: Bit of a building to the far left, large palm tree center with native Americans at each side. Red with a beige background.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Condition
The toile has been left in it's "as found" condition and the fabric has aged with a line of darker brown that crosses the middle. We decided to leave the toile in uncleaned condition because the aged areas best suited the frame.
Frame is in overall good condition except for a few areas of missing paint and age related marks. Nothing I find distracting and only adds to it's charm.
The frame didn't have glass in it or a backing so we took it to our local frame shop in Avignon. The glass is new as well as the cardboad and acid free paper added to the back with metal pins to keep it in place.
