I am not fotally familiar with this kind of fabric but believe it to be gingham. This fragment dates from the early 1800's. Fabrics front and back. I love the simple bold stitching.
Front fabric stripes blue with a two small pieces of different fabric at one end. One in blue the other aubergine/blue.
Back: has a simple picotage V shaped design and is a caramel color.
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
54 x 12 squared.
Condition
Left in "as found" condition.
Front: overall good condition but does have a few small holes, a darn and some thin areas.
Back: more distressed with holes, thin areas and larger areas of missing fabric.
In case you are thinking about taking the piece apart unpicking should go fairly quickly.
