A kaftan made from a 1920's silk velvet. I was told the fabric is Fortuny but it does not have a label. Unlike Fortuny pieces made during this period I believe this was not made by the designers of Fortuny but fabric made from the same period. Kaftans, jackets, dresses made by the Fortuny designers were all perfectly aligned and symetrical.
With this kaftan the design in the fabric flips back and forth and at both sleaves you will see a seam midway.
Stenciled design of artichokes in a silvery blue with florals and leaves in a redish brown against a light camel background.
The kaftan back of the kaftan is still sewn together and is in two long panels with a seam down the middle.
The front is the same two long panels but open down the front.
Each sleave has two panels front and back.
Photos show
-front two pieces
-back pieces sewn together
-Front and back pieces layed on top of each other so you can see that the peices line up
