A gorgeous piece of antique silk brocade. French in origin. Dates from the mid 1800's. Repeatings of columns with tiny florals and leaves designs in In shades of pink, light green and just a dab of natural red against a beautifully woven ivory background. This brocade is medium weight and could easily be used for clothing, upholstery project or soft furnishings. Photosa are a good representation of actual color and condition.

74.5 cm wide (still has the original selvage at both sides).
 
Condition
 
Probably used at one time but still in very good condition with no stains or holes. The threads are good and strong with no thinning. Colors are even and no fading.
 
There is a piece missing from the upper right hand corner measuring 29 cm in length x 16 cm wide. You will see a sewing line around the edges of this cut out piece. I saw three tiny pinholes in the fabric when held up to the light but you really have to look for them. There is a bit of a heavy fold line right at the bottom that runs along the width and measures 2.5 cm wide. You will see some light wrinkles but should come out with a good pressing.
