A large 19th century French toile panel. Cotton. Depicts repeating motifs of nest with eggs resting on a large bouquet of florals which are tied with a ribbon. Center motif is surrounded by a garlands of other florals. Colors are two tones of goldish tan against a beautiful indigo blue background.

There are four full repeats on this panel with partial repeat at the top, partials repeats at the right side and almost full repeats at the left side. So lots of possibilities for large and smaller projects.

Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Measurements

2 meters 25 cm from top to bottom

79 cm wide (still has selvage at left side)

Condition

Light quilted at one time so you will see some quilt lines throughout the main body of the fragment. There are some heavier lines of quilting along the top and the bottom.

Overall condition is good with strong even coloring except for the background which will show some slight variations due to age but what you would expect on a fabric of this age.

Here are the condition factors to note:

-some small holes along top edge

--a line of small holes at bottom edge

-line of small holes and some larger holes down right hand side and a few small holes in the motifs along right hand side

-center motifs down the middle one small L shaped tear and a pin hole in first full motif. Some tiny pinholes due to quilting which can be seen when held up to the light.

Majority of the fabric in very good condition except for the right hand side.

The fabric has been lightly laundered using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents to remove dust and dirt. We like to delivery a clean and pressed product when possible but we take care to preserve the color and integretity of the fabric.
