A large panel of this 19th century French cotton chintz. Cottonr. Roll print. Three bandks of roses and buds on leafy stems with alternating bands of a moire print. Colors in the roses are a combination of rosy pinks with light tangerine. Leaves and stems are blue. The bands of moire print are light pink with light grey. The panel was a curtain at one time and hems are all hand stitched. Glazing is still very much intact. Photos are a good indication of actual color and condition.
Measurements
2 meters 94 cm from top to bottom (if you took out the hem of the bottom almost 3 meters)
The width is
80.5 cm (selvages at both sides present).
Condition
Left in as found condition.
At the left hand side there is a section measuring 27 cm in length with holes in the rose motifs. In addition a couple of tiny holes but nothing major. You will see a couple of tiny stains. There may be slight variations in color due to age but difficult to tell unleass the fabric is cleaned.
The fabric has aged and soiled fairly evenly with time. I have not laundered it because I'm not sure how it will clean and I didn't want to remove any of the original glaze or color. We have a lot of customers that prefer this "aged" look so leaving any cleaning up to the discretion of the buyer.
Fabric, other than the damage noted, is in good strong condition.
