Rare find! Circa 1750 ottoman saddle-back of bue green silk velvet worked in heavy silver and gold metal thread. Two large scrolled leaf motifs at each corner and a smaller matching motif in the center. Groups of smaller florals outline the inner edge. The back is as interesting and beautifully done as the front with the use of several natural materials silk, cotton, linen and other natural fibers. Unlined.

Condition
The silk velvet shows signs of age but is still good and strong. The embroidery work shows some loose and missing threads although it has a fairly even appearance. There is one small piece of a leaf top center that is missing leaving the linen backing exposed. I have left all loose threads intact in case the buyer wants to tack these back into place. Would be a nice framed, used on a pillow front of as a pelmet above a doorwary.
