A large 19th century pelmet. French in origin. Possibly ecclesiastical with a large gold work embroidery of swags  of leaves, ivy and stylized blossom done on a silk backing. Gold metallic vestments trims along the sides with a well developed patina. Gold metallic twist rope fringe hangs from the bottom. There are small metal rings along the top edge back so the pelmet can easily be hung. Nice quality. Photos are a good represenation of actual color.
