An 18th century French needlework chair cover. Done in wool with silk thread accents. Combination of regular and petite point stitching. Depicts three fgirures center. One with a striped robe, another sitting center and to the right a figure holding a large umbrella. There is a partial bird and a full bird at top, two small butterflies and part of a dog at the bottom. The details and colors in needlework from this period are remarkable. Photos are a good representation of actual color.
Measurements
From top center to bottom center
47 cm
Across the middle
45 cm
Condition
The most notable thing about the condition is the hole just above the head of the person holding the umbrella. There is some heavier thread in small sections mostly above the top portion of the needlework and some thread loss in the faces of two of the figures.
