Rare find! This early 1800's French cotton block print shawl. Part of a small collection that we recently required.
 
Details of this shawl: 
 
Base color: indigo blue with other shades of blue, beige and slight pinkish tones. 
 
Block print border: Depicting florals and leaves around the sides with blocks of small and larger circle motifs in the center. 
 
Sides; Two other the sides appear to have been hand rolled and stitched but have now come undone. 
 
Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.

Condition
 
Left in "as found" condition. These shawls are very popular and widely collected. They are not my area of expertise and I am leaving restoration and cleaning up to the discretion of the customer. 
 
The shawl shows a couple of small holes in the center area and a couple of splits. Some light stains and variation in color due to soiling. A couple of darker stains at one side. I saw a couple of small splits in border areas. A bit of wear and damage and the edges. Colors are good strong and even. 
 
Would be beautiful framed, upscaled or reproduced.
