Rare find! This early 1800's French cotton block print shawl. Part of a small collection that we recently required.

Base color: chocolate brown.

Sides; Hand rolled and hand stitched on all sides.

Condition
 
Left in "as found" condition. These shawls are very popular and widely collected. They are not my area of expertise and I am leaving restoration and cleaning up to the discretion of the customer. 
 
The shawl shows some small holes here and there throughout which can be seen when held up to like. There is a stitch line that runs from one side to the next. I think it was stitched into place to hold a shape at one time. A couple of linen ties hand stitched to the corners so it could be hung which can easily be removed. One large L shaped tear by the border. Some soiling which I think will lift with a professional clean. Colors are good and strong in the border and even. 
 
Would be beautiful framed, upscaled or reproduced.
