An 18th century vendure tapestry fragment. French in origin.
Corner piece depicting a sea monster at one side and another one at the other sound with a round medallion in between. Wool with sil thread accents. Photos are a good representation of actual color and condition.
Measurements
40 cm in length along one side and 41 cm along the other side (outer edges)
The width is 23 cm.
Condition
Good appearance but does have some condition issues. There is a repair above the head of one of the sea monsters. The other sea monster has been patched at the mouth . Two of the edges show some missing pieces and holes. This fragment is probably best suited for smaller projects. It would look nice to cut it and put the two sea monsters next to each other with one head pointed to the left and the other pointed to the right.
