Stunning large panel of a 19th century French cotton block print. Two huge full circle motifs center of stylized paisley and branchy leaves with small florals. Colors are natural red and white against a light indigo blue background. The same motif in 1/2 sections repeats along the sides.  Photos are a good representation of actual color.

Measurements

1 meter 85 cm from top to bottom

The width is

86.5 cm (still has the selvage at each side).

Condition

For the most part in very good condition with only a few thin spots when held up to the light.

Quilted at one time so you will see quilt lines and some slight variation in background color due to aging. Oddly some white spots at the end of the fabric which at first look a bit like bleach spots but I don't think this is the case. I suspect that the background blue indigo did not take the dye in these spots for some reason. In one of the spots you can see how a red motif (undoubtedly later printed after the blue has remained intact. If it were a bleach spot the red would have faded as well. No spots in the large round motifs and none in the side motifs except one at the bottom.

The fabric has been a cold water soak using those famous Marseille soaps without bleaching agents to remove dust and dirt. We like to deliver a clean and pressed product when possible but take care to preserve the color and integretity of the fabric.
