Vintage block print fabric. Cotton. Dates from the mid 1800's. "Petite" florals which swirled leaves around the sides. French in origin but it was used in traditional Dutch clothing a "borstlap." This piece would have been worn on the shoulders and which the opening in the center. There are two other little pieces of fabric around the opening that date from the same period. One with a scalloped design and ther other an abstract. Colors are shades of aubergine. and a bit of white. Photos are a good representation of actual color.
Measurements
74 cm x 21.5 cm wide at the center
Condition
Used but still in good condition. The only thing to note is that there are several pieces sewn together . On one of the sides there is a small hole towards the center. Best suited for small projects . No stains or discoloration. Colors are good and even.
I believe this was a piece that was made but not completed. Normally these "borstlappen" would have a liner and be heavily starched. The fabrics on this piece are still soft and there is no liner.
